Please join us for virtual talk with Dr. Dyanne Baptiste Porter on STEAM teaching and learning.

Dr. Dyanne Baptiste Porter is a Teachers College IUME research fellow and a postdoctoral research fellow at Georgia Tech’s Center for Education Integrating Science, Mathematics, and Computing (CEISMC). She received a bachelor’s degree in Bioengineering from Syracuse University, Master of Arts in Teaching Mathematics from Agnes Scott College, and a Ph.D. (Analyzing Instructional Practices within Interdisciplinary and Traditional Mathematics: A Phenomenological Study, 2022) in from Teachers College, Columbia University. Prior to pursuing her doctorate, she taught high school mathematics for eight years in public and private schools. Some of her research interests include equitable teaching and learning practices in STEM and increasing representation in advanced mathematical sciences. Her current research projects include examining implementation of STEM integration and biologically inspired engineering design curricula in middle and high schools, respectively. Along with spending time with family and enjoying her hobbies, she is very passionate about mentoring first generation students of color in pursuing and completing doctoral degrees.

This event is part of the Gordon Institute for Urban and Minority Education Fall Speaker Series.
